  1. · 🇦🇪 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 · Nurses and paramedics

NCLEX-RN fees rise on 1 February 2027: US$350 to register for a US licence, CAD 570 for Canada

For NCLEX-RN registrations from 1 February 2027, the registration fee is US$350, up from US$200, for a US licence and CAD 570, up from CAD 360, for Canadian registration; a test centre outside the US, or outside Canada and the mainland US, still adds US$150 or CAD 150.

  2. · 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 🇦🇪 · Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and dentists

DHA exam fees 2026: US$240 for nurses and pharmacists, US$280 for doctors and dentists

DHA's computer-based test guideline (September 2026) charges US$240 for the Registered Nurse, Assistant Nurse and Pharmacist exams and US$280 for General Practice, every listed Specialist and Consultant exam and General Dentist; Prometric runs them, and DHA posts a pass or a fail, not the score.

  3. · 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 · Doctors and nurses

VisaScreen English scores for nurses from 12 May 2026: IELTS 6.5 with 7.0 in speaking

Under HRSA's list of 12 May 2026, a VisaScreen certificate for a registered nurse needs IELTS 6.5 overall with 7.0 in speaking, OET 320 in listening, 340 in reading, 350 in writing and 360 in speaking, or PTE 55 with 76 in speaking; tests taken at home are not accepted.

  4. · 🇰🇼 🇴🇲 · Pharmacists, paramedics and dentists

Pharmacist licence in Oman: OMSB exam US$200, viva OMR 30, licence OMR 100 for non-Omanis

Oman's Drug Safety Center licenses a pharmacist after 3 years of experience with no break of more than a year, OMSB's pharmacist examination (US$200, pass mark 60%) and the directorate's viva (OMR 30 to request); the licence costs OMR 100 for a non-Omani.

  5. · 🇦🇪 🇶🇦 🇸🇦 🇧🇭 · Pharmacists, paramedics and dentists

Gulf dentist licences: 2 years of experience in the UAE and Qatar, 5 years in Bahrain for non-Bahrainis

A general dentist needs the internship and 2 years of clinical experience for the UAE's unified licence and 2 years for Qatar's, and 5 years after the internship in Bahrain if not Bahraini; a pharmacist needs a pharmacy degree and two years' experience in the UAE and Qatar, and a paramedic a two-year certificate and a year's experience in the UAE, or a BSc and two years' in Bahrain.

  6. · 🇬🇧 United Kingdom · Nurses

NMC SIFE: a year in a UK care role can replace IELTS or OET for nurses

The NMC accepts supporting information from employers (SIFE) as English evidence from a nurse who has worked at least 12 months full time in a non-registered role in a UK health or care setting: with a nursing programme taught and examined in English in any country it replaces the test, and after two tests that missed one score by no more than 0.5 in IELTS or half a grade in OET it covers that score.

  7. · 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia · Doctors

SCFHS grades doctors by qualification: a master's is Registrar, a specialty certificate Senior Registrar

SCFHS's membership standards of August 2025 classify a doctor by the level of their qualification: a bachelor's is General Practitioner, a master's-level specialty qualification Registrar, and a doctorate or specialty certificate Senior Registrar or, with 3 years, Consultant; Registrars and above are classified by exam or evaluation, with no Saudi licensing exam (SMLE).

  8. · 🇬🇧 🇮🇪 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 🇦🇪 🇶🇦 🇸🇦 🇧🇭 🇰🇼 🇴🇲 · Doctors and nurses

UAE and Bahrain specialty tiers: a UK CCT is Tier 1, an Indian MD, MS or DNB Tier 3

The UAE's unified PQR and Bahrain's NHRA place every specialty certificate in Tier 1, 2 or 3, which decides the years you need and whether you sit an exam: a UK CCT, a US board, a Canadian or Australasian fellowship is Tier 1; an Indian DM or MCh, the Arab Board (UAE) or a Pakistani FCPS (Bahrain) is Tier 2; an Indian MD, MS or DNB is Tier 3.

  9. · 🇳🇿 🇦🇪 🇶🇦 🇸🇦 🇧🇭 🇴🇲 · Doctors

Gulf specialist and consultant years count from the specialty certificate, not the internship

The UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman count a specialist's or consultant's experience from the specialty certificate: for Specialist the UAE's PQR asks 3 years after a Tier 3 certificate and NHRA 1 year after Tier 2 or 3 years after Tier 3; for Consultant the PQR asks 2 years after Tier 1 or 5 years after Tier 2, and NHRA 2 years or 4 years.

  10. · 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 🇶🇦 🇧🇭 · Nurses

Nurses: English without a test for Ahpra and the NMC, Qatar's NCLEX limit, Bahrain's GCC exemption

Ahpra accepts nursing and two years of secondary education taught and assessed in English in its recognised countries instead of a test, and the NMC a year of registered practice in the last two years in a majority-English-speaking country; Qatar's DHP lets an NCLEX-RN pass replace its exam only within five years, and Bahrain's NHRA exempts GCC nationals with a GCC licence from its exam.

  11. · 🇮🇪 🇳🇿 🇦🇪 🇶🇦 🇰🇼 🇴🇲 · Nurses

QCHP Prometric exam fee from 1 January 2026: US$244

From 1 January 2026, Qatar's Department of Healthcare Professions charges US$244 for its Prometric qualifying exam; for a Registered General Nurse it is 150 multiple-choice questions, 3 hours, cut score 50%, at Prometric centres.

  12. · 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 · Nurses

Ahpra's English scores from 23 April 2026: OET 350 in listening and writing, 360 in reading and speaking

Ahpra's English standard from 23 April 2026 reads OET as the numeric score: at least 350 in listening and writing and 360 in reading and speaking; two sittings within 12 months combine only if no score falls below 320 in listening, 340 in reading or 350 in writing and speaking, and a result older than two years when you apply no longer counts.

  13. · 🇬🇧 🇮🇪 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 🇦🇪 🇶🇦 🇸🇦 🇧🇭 🇴🇲 · Doctors

Doctors in Oman: the ministry's GP route and the OMSB exam at US$220

Under its November 2025 procedure, Oman's Ministry of Health licenses a General Practitioner for a private health establishment with a degree, the internship, four years of work experience, a DataFlow report, the OMSB general practitioner examination (US$220) and the ministry's viva; a level 2 specialty certificate needs no further experience for Specialist and level 3 needs 3 years.

  14. · 🇬🇧 🇮🇪 🇦🇺 · Doctors

    PLAB fees from 1 April 2026: PLAB 1 £283, PLAB 2 £1,036

From 1 April 2026, the GMC charges £283 for PLAB 1, £1,036 for PLAB 2 and £481 for full registration with a licence to practise; in Ireland PRES Level 3 costs €1,500 an attempt in 2026, and in Australia the AMC's CAT MCQ costs AUD 2,920 and its clinical examination AUD 3,000.

How the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and New Zealand license overseas doctors

A General Practitioner needs successful completion of the internship programme and two years of clinical experience after it for the UAE's unified licence and 5 years of experience before Qatar's Prometric exam, and sits the SMLE in Saudi Arabia; Bahrain licenses overseas doctors only as Specialists and Consultants, and New Zealand registers them through four routes.
