Good to know

Who can sit them?
Nurses: Bachelor's degree in nursing from a recognised local or international college; registration through OMSB online services and Pearson VUE. General practitioners: BSc in Medicine from a recognised local or international medical college, and a completed approved or accredited internship programme. Pharmacists: A bachelor's degree in pharmacy from a recognised local or international college.
Where do I sit them?
OMSB in Muscat for residents of Oman; Pearson VUE centres worldwide for candidates abroad.
Is there an exam for specialists?
Yes. The Ministry of Health and other institutions use OMSB's occupational classification examinations for licensing; specialty examinations are published per specialty (anaesthesia, dermatology, radiology, emergency medicine, ENT, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, psychiatry) alongside the general practitioner examination, at the OMSB test centre and Pearson VUE centres worldwide.
Is there an OMSB exam for paramedics?
No. The 23 occupational classification examinations listed by OMSB include none for paramedics or emergency medical technicians (the Emergency Medicine examination is for physicians). The ministry's procedure still lists a Pearson VUE test in a paramedic's file.
What happens after the exam?
Your result goes into your licence file, and the Ministry of Health then holds an interview (viva).
