ECFMG's MyIntealth fee, Oman's licence fees and diploma nurses' exam, and Ireland's PRES Level 2

Applying to ECFMG now counts the USD 110 MyIntealth account (USD 910, was USD 800). Oman's routes now show the ministry's licence fee, OMR 50 for a non-Omani nurse and OMR 100 for a non-Omani doctor, and nurses with a diploma sit OMSB's OEN-Diploma (USD 200), not the bachelor's OEN. Doctors applying to the Irish Medical Council sit PRES Level 2 (EUR 352) unless PLAB 1, USMLE, MCCQE Part 1 or the AMC MCQ replaces it.

What it means for you

United States (doctors)

The step "Apply for ECFMG Certification through MyIntealth" now costs USD 910, not USD 800: USD 110 to open the MyIntealth account (online notarisation included), USD 580 for the application and USD 220 to verify the diploma and transcript, all on ECFMG's fee page. The Match step stays at USD 775; its USD 220 SEVIS fee is now read from the Department of Homeland Security's own I-901 page (the J-1 fee) instead of a note.

Oman (nurses)

The job-offer step now shows OMR 50 (was no fee): the ministry's licence fee for a non-Omani nurse, which the clinic or hospital applies for and the establishment or the nurse pays. The exam step now follows the nurse's qualification: OMSB's Omani Examination for Nurses (OEN) with a bachelor's degree, and its Omani Examination for Nursing Diploma (OEN-Diploma, April 2026 booklet: 100 questions in two and a half hours, pass score 50%) with a diploma. Both cost USD 200, so the figure does not move, but a nurse with a diploma is no longer told to sit the bachelor's exam, and a pass in the other qualification's exam no longer clears the step.

Oman (doctors)

The job-offer step on the General Practitioner, Specialist and Consultant routes now shows OMR 100 (was no fee): the ministry's licence fee for a non-Omani doctor.

Ireland (doctors)

A new step, PRES Level 2, costs EUR 352 for doctors on the PRES route who have not passed an exam the Medical Council accepts in its place. The Council's current pages offer Level 2 (a three-hour written exam, now held in Dublin and in Dubai) and let PLAB Part 1, USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, MCCQE Part 1 or the AMC MCQ replace it; the 2016 notice the plan followed, which said new applicants no longer sit Level 2, is out of date. PLAB Part 1 now counts for two years from the exam (three before 31 March 2025) and USMLE for seven. The PRES Level 3 step stays at EUR 1,500. Doctors exempt from the PRES (PLAB 2, a recognised higher qualification or an equivalent internship) see neither step.

The cost comparison

For doctors, the United States now reads US$3,690 before visas and flights (was US$3,580), Ireland EUR 2,303 with Level 2 (was EUR 1,951) and Oman OMR 200 plus US$220 (was OMR 100 plus US$220); for nurses, Oman reads OMR 100 plus US$200 (was OMR 50 plus US$200).
