Who can use the competent authority pathway to register as a doctor in Australia?
On the Medical Board of Australia's competent authority pathway, Ahpra registers doctors who hold one of the Board's combinations of a qualifying exam or degree and supervised experience, so a PLAB pass alone is not enough. Registration then runs: provisional registration first, in a Board-approved position with approved supervision; general registration after 12 months of supervised practice (at least 47 weeks full-time equivalent).
