UK dentists and paramedics: the red and amber recruitment lists now show on the plan

The UK's code of practice for international recruitment covers every health and care professional, so dentists and paramedics living in a red-list or amber-list country now see it on their UK plan, as nurses and doctors do.

What it means for you

United Kingdom (dentists and paramedics)

If you live in a country on the UK's red list, NHS employers and recruitment agencies may not recruit you actively there, but you can still apply to advertised posts yourself. If you live in Kenya or Nepal, on the amber list, employers and agencies may recruit you only within the terms of the government agreement with your country. The lists go by the country you live in, not where you trained. The UK's agreements with India and the Philippines name nurses and some allied health professions; neither names dentists or paramedics, so there is no separate notice for those countries.

United Kingdom (Filipino nurses)

The plan now says what the agreement with the Philippines says: an NHS employer hiring more than five people from the Philippines has to apply for accreditation and should work with a Philippine recruitment agency, or may use a UK foreign placement agency. It no longer says the employer must use a Philippine agency.
